April felt like a whirlwind, and I honestly can’t believe it’s already May. It was a chaotic month, but not all bad! I had moments of momentum and motivation, but also plenty of times where I felt off-track and overwhelmed (which—let’s be real—is totally normal).
I started 75 Hard and didn’t finish it. And while part of me wanted to beat myself up for that, I’m choosing to be proud that I even started something so intense while working four jobs. That alone is a win in my book.
May feels like a fresh start. I’m going into this month with a little more softness, a little more grace, and a focus on realistic habits that help me feel grounded and balanced. Here are five things I want to work on:
1. No Phone After 9PM
I know I sleep better and feel less anxious when I put my phone away earlier, but it’s a habit I’ve definitely let slip. This month, I want to start plugging in my phone by 9PM (okay, maybe 9:30 some days 😅) and wind down without screen time—whether that means journaling, reading a real book (no Kindle!), or meditating.
There’s science behind this too: less screen time before bed improves your sleep and supports your mental and physical health. Let’s see if I can actually stick to it this time!
2. Move My Body Daily—but Be Gentle About It
After pushing myself hard with 75 Hard… and failing (lol), I want May to be about consistency over intensity. I feel my best when I start the day with a walk, so that’s my baseline goal. I also want to get back into a workout routine I actually look forward to.
Lately, I’ve been loving strength training again, and I still enjoy Pilates using the FORM app. Since I can only strength train at the gym, some days Pilates at home might be the better fit for my schedule. The bottom line? I just want to move daily and feel good—without burning myself out.
3. Time Block My Days (Even Loosely)
When I time block or make even a rough to-do list, my day flows so much better. I’m more focused, less frazzled, and way more productive.
Lately, my schedule has been all over the place, and I think that’s a big reason my thoughts feel so scattered. This month, I want to get back into the habit of writing down my top 3 priorities each morning and loosely planning out my day to keep myself grounded.
4. Fuel My Body with Protein and Fiber
I feel so much better when I eat enough protein and fiber—more energy, better focus, and it keeps everything moving (yes, TMI… but it’s true 😅).
This month, I want to be more intentional with my meals by planning ahead and making sure I’m eating enough in general. With my schedule, there are days I skip meals just because I didn’t have anything ready—and that’s not serving me. Fuel = focus, and I need to treat food like the energy source it is.
5. Make Space for Slowness
That beach trip I took recently with family really reminded me how important it is to rest without guilt. I don’t want a life that’s constantly go-go-go. I want to enjoy slow mornings, take breaks in the sunshine, and give myself permission to just be.
Productivity is great—but peace matters, too.
If you’re setting new goals or habits for May, I’d love to hear what they are. Let’s hold each other accountable and start this month feeling grounded—not pressured.
xoxo,
