How I’m Finding My Style In My 20s

Finding your personal style in your 20s is way harder than I thought it would be. For most of my teen years, I just wore whatever was trendy—crop tops, short shorts, basic pieces that looked cute in photos but didn’t really reflect anything about me. That worked at the time because I didn’t need to dress professionally, and to be honest, I didn’t think much about it beyond “what’s in right now?”

But as I’ve stepped into adulthood—and into my career as a realtor—my relationship with style has shifted. I still want to feel confident and cute, but now I also want to feel put-together, feminine, and a little more elevated… even in casual outfits.

So here’s where I’m at with my style journey, what’s been helping, and what I’ve been loving lately 💗

1. I Outgrew My Old Style—and That’s Okay

I used to live in crop tops and tiny shorts, and while that was fine for teenage-me, it doesn’t align with where I’m at anymore. Working in real estate means I often need to look presentable and professional—even when I’m not in a full-blown “business” outfit.

Instead of trying to hold onto a style that no longer fits who I am (literally and energetically), I’ve started building a wardrobe that feels like a better match for this new chapter. It’s still playful and young, but it’s more intentional now.

2. Stitch Fix Helped Me Get Unstuck

Using Stitch Fix has been such a helpful tool for exploring new pieces and figuring out what I actually like. It got me out of my default “jeans and a random top” uniform and helped me try on styles I might not have chosen for myself—but ended up loving.

Through paying attention to what I’ve kept, I’ve realized I’m drawn to:

  • Feminine, flowy silhouettes
  • Puff sleeves and smocked details
  • Bright colors and florals
  • Statement pieces that add personality

I used to think I needed to force myself into a neutral-toned capsule wardrobe to be “put together,” but now I’m embracing color and fun details—and it feels so much more me.

3. Professional ≠ Boring

I’ve been learning that being professional doesn’t mean dressing boring or overly buttoned-up. A bright dress with puff sleeves can still look polished. A floral blouse with relaxed trousers can still feel elevated. I want my clothes to show my personality and my professionalism—and I’m finally finding that balance.

Now, even when I’m dressing casually (especially working from home), I try to choose pieces that make me feel pulled together, confident, and cute. Because how I dress impacts how I feel.

4. Pinterest is My Style Compass

I’ve created a few Pinterest boards that reflect the vibe I’m going for, and when I’m shopping or putting together outfits, I reference those boards to help keep me aligned. Not with trends—but with me.

Style Is Supposed to Evolve

In your 20s, everything is shifting—your body, your career, your confidence, your friendships. So of course your style is going to shift too. I’m finally letting go of the pressure to dress a certain way or fit into a specific box and leaning into what actually makes me feel good in my own skin.

If you’re also in a season of rediscovering or rebuilding your style—know that it’s okay to outgrow your old wardrobe. Let it be fun, let it be expressive, and let it evolve with you.

xoxo,
